If you love mythos and divination how can you not love tarot? To me tarot is a great vehicle for self understanding and inner discovery. I use tarot as a mirror to look deep into myself, and to stir around the submerged lattices of my subconscious. I use tarot for concentration exercises, dynamic dreaming, path-working, divination, and viewing my own personal journey in life.
My favorite deck for trance work and dynamic dreaming is the
Mary-el Tarot by Marie White!
The images on this tarot deck are dark, organic and visceral. I personally use this deck for concentration exercises, and as a spring boards for path-working and dynamic dreaming. For some reason when I gaze upon the images I automatically begin traveling inward, and without any effort I am able to swim around in my subconscious, and connect with each card's mythos & archetype.
I must warn everyone that I would
NOT recommend this deck for tarot spreads because the cards are a bit too large to handle comfortable and the coating on each card makes shuffling difficult (the cards tend to stick together). I should also mention that the booklet that accompanies this deck is a rare treasure within itself!!! Marie White went to great detail in providing a deep and profound description of each cards image and meaning; from my understanding it took Marie White a decade to complete this deck. Check out this deck for yourself at
www.mary-el.comMy favorite decks for tarot spreads and divination purposes are: Legacy of the Divine Tarot by Ciro Marchetti (Rider-Waite-Smith based tarot deck)
. Beautiful easy to understand futuristic RWS imagery, very comfortable to handle and shuffle.
Thoth Tarot Small Deck by Aleister Crowley & Lady Frieda Harris
. This deck has a very high learning curve! Not recommended for beginners! Yet truly amazing imagery and esoteric applications. The only thing I dislike about this deck is it is easy to spot a reversal before flipping and setting a card into position due to the asymmetrical image on the back of all the cards. The small deck is easy to handle and shuffle compared to the large deck if you don't have enormous hands.
Liber T/ Tarot of the Stars Eternal by Andrea Serio (Thoth based tarot deck). Wonderful Thoth based deck with bizarre Minor Arcana images. I like the symmetrical image on the back of all the cards making reversals impossible to spot before flipping and setting a card into position. This deck is
EXTREMELY easy to handle and shuffle!!! To me the images are very dream-like which speaks to my subconscious fluently.

This is a limited production tarot deck, the images are similar to the Thoth deck yet depicted slightly darker and more organic due to the artistic medium used. I like the symmetrical image on the back of all the cards making reversals impossible to spot before flipping and setting a card into position.
