Does anyone have any good recommendations on getting better at Meditation? I'm still new to the craft and I see that it will take some time to get it down pat. Thanks.

I certainly have some tips for you Daminon and I'm glad to share them. These are in no specific order;
Seek inspiration: If you are inspired by Eastern spiritual traditions, you might reflect upon an image or icon of the Buddha. You can also use a flower, crystal, or other object that has meaning for you. Lightly allow your attention to sit there, quietly and peacefully.
Recite a mantra: A mantra literally means "that which protects the mind." So reciting a mantra protects you with spiritual power. It is also said that when you chant a mantra, you are charging your breath and energy with the energy of the mantra. Again, choose something with meaning for you within your spiritual tradition: recite the Rosary, for example. Tibetan Buddhists use a mantra for peace, healing, transformation and healing.
Do a Guided Meditation: Guided meditation is akin to guided imagery, a powerful technique that focuses and directs the imagination toward a conscious goal. (Think of a diver imagining a "perfect dive" before he leaves the platform.)
When it comes to meditation guides there are many ways to meditate. Some seem like complete contradictions — "Keep your eyes open and focus on an object or light piece of music" versus "Close your eyes and try to focus on nothing." Whatever you tend to believe brings you to a relaxed state, following and steadying the breath is the most universal of meditation techniques. The differences in guides are because people are different and what works for one person may not work for another. So on and so forth.
A quiet, still place: For beginners, especially, a quiet room without a lot of sensory distractions is a big help. You'll likely practice with your eyes closed, but visual clutter can still feel imposing and draw your mind elsewhere as you try to settle in. Music is not at all necessary—in fact, it can be distracting at first—but could be a helpful exercise later on.
Do you need anything? Nothing: This is a fact. Meditation requires only a willingness to concentrate on what's happening and, in most cases, slow your mind down and follow your breath. You can do it lying down, in a chair, or using equipment and spaces you've set aside for such practice.

Love and Peace To all,
My name is Sid and i have been dealing with Luke for almost 6 months now. He is great as we all know.
Well I belong to a family of Tantra meditation family, in which we are taught to increase our personal energy than anything else. Our school teaches us to reach to a point where one can fill life to his strong subconscious image. For example if you are following Jesus or Buddha you increase your energy and vibration level to an extent that you actually fill the image with life. Well I don't want to go in much detail cuz I am not the master plus now I am the last one left in my family to practice and learn those mediation techniques which I am still Learning.
The problems we have while meditating is Distraction and second the most dangerous is hallucination or illusion which our mind materialistic mind plays the game with.
Well I can put some practices which may help you guys and if it does please send me your blessings and comments. AND LUKE IF I AM WRONG ANYWHERE PLEASE CORRECT ME.
Give yourself 15-30 mins free uninterrupted timings.
Steps:
1. Sit and relax in any position lotus position preferably. 2 Breath fast and long* from your chest(put hand on your chest) 25 times really fast at your highest pace 3. After chest Breath from the Abdomen same fast and long* 25 times 4. After that first breath in your abdomen fill it than fill your chest, this has to be slow and steady 20-25 times 5. After that feel** your head and the neck than your right hand from arm to fingers, than left hand till finger, rib cage, abdomen/belly, spine full back, right leg, left leg 6. You will start having some light sensations if yes than that's good, 7. Just do nothing go with the flow let happen whatever happens.
NOTE: First 7 days you ma fall asleep or feel dizzy as it this practices relaxes you to the deepest level where mind is free of any stress distraction and thoughts. Once you perfect this practice just before the chest breathings you can Add AUM chanting loud and clear(if you can) or add hmm sound loud and clear(if cannot do Aum due to religious restrictions)
*Long : Quickly fill up abdomen/chest but fill it up full and long breaths **Feel look at those body parts through your mental eye, you feel sensations on the body parts.
Hope these helps for some of you can call upon your spirits or guides to connect with you after 10 mins of step (7) and try to talk to them telepathically/mentally you should get great response. once you feel you are connected just go with the flow.

One of the ways that I love to meditate is in this video. I used this often, because I get distracted with sounds sometimes. One time I did this at the Angel Oak tree (over 1,000 years old) in John's Island, SC. The amount of energy there was intense, but relaxing. The mosquitoes found a buffet on me, too.
